The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a national organization that exists to help students develop the skills necessary for them to succeed professionally in nearly any field. Some of these skills include leadership experience, effective communication, establishing a network of contacts, and presenting work in professional settings.

Who can join? The Wittenberg University Chapter of the SPS is not only for physics majors. There are members from a wide range of majors including geology, engineering, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and medicine, to name a few.

What happens at meetings? Contrary to popular belief, we do not sit around and work physics problems. Though there are some activities that may require an understanding of some basic concepts in physics, there is always some way to participate and have a good time. Recent activities and events include:
- A trip to COSI in Columbus, OH.
- Participating in Girl Scout Science Night, an annual even hosted by the science departments of Wittenberg University for young women in the Springfield community.
- The liquid nitrogen ice cream social, hosted by the Chemistry department.
- Building a pumpkin launcher (trebuchet).
- A trip to Orlando, FL for the 2012 Quadrennial Physics Congress.
