Congratulations to two incredible MIR members honored at the WashU OPA Awards and Recognition Ceremony for their outstanding dedication to the postdoc community!

Dr. Patrícia Ribeiro Pereira received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award for empowering postdocs to pursue independent research, secure competitive funding and grow with confidence in a culture of openness and professional excellence.

Dr. Aishwarya Rajesh, a postdoc in the Gordon Precision Neuroimaging Lab, received the OPA Director’s Distinguished Leadership Award for her commitment to equitable research environments, career and professional development and building a strong sense of community across WashU’s postdoctoral network.

We're saddened by the passing of our dear colleague Dr. Christopher J. Moran. A well-respected neurointerventional radiologist, he helped advance life-saving flow diverter technology for brain aneurysms and trained physicians around the world over the last 45 years. He will be missed, but his impact on medicine and countless lives will endure.

Christopher J. Moran, MD, professor emeritus of radiology at MIR, died Thursday, April 30, 2026. He was 78.

Currently on the path to his second board certification, chief resident Dr. Adrian Sanchez embodies the physician-scientist spirit. He's managed to keep one foot in his medical physics research background, and the other in his clinical training as a diagnostic radiologist.
