The sorority was founded in August of 2008 by two determined graduate students, Jeannie Fry and Meredith Vallee. These women were inspired to create an organization where women of all backgrounds could be proud of who they were, foster leadership skills, and develop bonds of sisterhood with a diverse group. In 2013, Missouri Baptist University student Jerica Marie Drago and Virginia Tech student a
nd current GDS President Miccah Bartley devised a plan to expand to the MBU campus. Ashley Hannegan, Dani Dykstra, Alli Brown, and Anne Salzenstein of MBU also joined the plan that same year. Through the hard work and determination of the girls, along with the Alpha chapter, the Beta Chapter of Gamma Delta Sigma was officially chartered on March 1, 2013. They were the first five sisters of the Beta chapter. From there, the chapter has continued to grow and prosper.
