The Red Barn is so grateful to have some of the best staff in the world and, as much as we are saddened to say goodbye to one of the all time greats in a full-time roll (though we are excited to keep her on our coaching/clinician roster), we are hopeful that someone can fill her giant shoes!

So, if you are--or you know of--a talented equine professional who has experience managing a stable staff (in Spanish and English), has a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and (most importantly!) loves working with the most amazing clients, boarders, and students at one of the most beautiful barns in the Bay Area, please send them our job posting!

They are here! So happy to welcome Dawson Grove Farm and Hillary Martin to the Red Barn! The seamless move-in process facilitated by both programs and their hard-working staff was amazing to see. Our new boarders have been so friendly (and we love meeting so many spectacular 🐴’s!). What a wonderful new era at the Red Barn, highlighting such well-regarded Hunter/Jumper and Dressage trainers! 🌲

The Stanford Red Barn is delighted to welcome Olivia Brown / Dawson Grove Farm and Hillary Martin / HCM Dressage to the Red Barn starting September 1st!

Olivia is a successful Jumper and Hunter rider whose Dawson Grove Farm is focused on providing a family-friendly training program able to serve riders of all levels from children to active amateurs in all three rings (Equitation, Hunters and Jumpers).

USEF Gold Medalist, Hillary Martin and HCM Dressage will help grow and strengthen the Red Barn’s exceptionally long history as a “home” to Dressage riders. Outside of being a top competitor (and apprentice USEF “r” judge), Hillary is a former “A” Pony Clubber who enjoys working with children and adults.

Both Hillary and Olivia have coached riders at the beginning of their career through to the FEI NAYC Championships and NAYRC (respectively) and are adept in supporting junior riders in the pursuits of riding in college, making them a great fit for Stanford’s historic 140 year old stables, home of Stanford’s championship Stanford Equestrian Team.

We can't wait to welcome them into the barn!

Just a reminder with the new Campus Zones: though the Red Barn is in the Community Zone and thrilled to welcome our owners, boarders, IEA & SRA riders, and (of course) Stanford Equestrian Team athletes under our safety protocols — we are still closed to the public as we adhere to the County’s Covid-19 restrictions. While that means no visitors anywhere on the property (sorry!!), we will continue to share images of the barn and horses as often as we can until we can once again open our doors to one and all!! 🐴🌲

This past weekend, Stanford Red Barn and it's community members hosted a special event, Red Barn Cares, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the wonderfully strong women affected by cancer. This year, Red Barn Cares directly benefited the Stanford Women's Cancer Center and Bay Are Cancer Connections and featured a super special guest, Jonathan Berek of SWCC.

Thanks to the meaningful work of barn-mate Kristin Crosland, the founder of Abreast, Red Barn was inspired to pull together as a community to honor all of the people in our lives who have been impacted by breast cancer, and to support the awareness, research, and treatment of women's cancers. The day was a super fun, Halloween horse show with participants who competed (in costume!) over jumper and equitation style courses.

We'd like to offer a huge thank you to all of our donors, horses, volunteers, judges, course designers, Stanford Women's Cancer Center, Bay Area Cancer Connections, and all of the women in our lives for such a special event. Red Barn Cares!

The Stanford Red Barn is so excited to welcome Katie Steiner as Assistant Coach/Program Administrator! Katie will coach Stanford’s successful Red Barn and Woodside IEA teams and help helm special programs and events at the Red Barn. Katie will also join Head Coach, Vanessa Bartsch, and Assistant Coach/Program Director, Tina Davey, in working with the horses and athletes of the Stanford Equestrian Team, fresh off their second-consecutive 3rd place finish at the IHSA National Finals.

A California native who competed in the Hunters and Equitation with Denize Borges, Katie attended Centenary University where she obtained her B.S. in Equine Studies, and rode for their exemplary IHSA Team, including winning the 2017 Cacchione Cup (awarded to the top Open collegiate rider in the country). During her collegiate career she participated in the USHJA’s Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) with Karen Healey, worked for Scott Stewart as a working student, and cliniced with such legends as Linda Langmeier.

“Joining the Red Barn team has been an extremely welcoming and rewarding experience!” shared Katie. “All the staff, parents, and students have been so supportive as I transition into this position. I am very much looking forward to growing with each class of students and guiding the IEA riders into their future riding careers.”
