In early June, in conjunction with the national conversation around police brutality and systemic racism, a handful of students led by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Beta Chapter launched Justice 4 Black Lives (J4BL), an initiative to help mobilize Stanford students and their circles to donate in droves to bail funds and other community organizations via social media.
J4BL is entering its third stage of fundraising. Phase 1 of fundraising resulted in $21,135 being donated to bail funds all over the country (with help from corporate matching); Phase 2 raised $102,550, also with help from generous matchers, that was distributed to Bay Area charities centered around various Black Lives Matter initiatives, and to The Bail Project. Phase 3 will continue to scale out these efforts, supporting both national and local nonprofits that are focused on anti-racist relief and change-making efforts.
Please help Sigma Psi Zeta, Inc., Omicron Chapter support Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Beta Chapter in raising money for Phase 3!
