Huge congratulations to Yuran Zhang, the first Dekas Lab member to defend her PhD thesis!!! Yuran used techniques from microbial ecology to understand subsurface connectivity and fluid flow. Yuran worked between the Dekas Geomicrobiology Lab (Stanford ESS) and the Horne Geothermal Group (Stanford ERE) to accomplish this deeply interdisciplinary work. Hopefully, her efforts will advance the utility of geothermal energy!

The Dekas Lab is looking for an awesome postdoc to join a project characterizing microbial candidate phyla (aka microbial 'dark matter') using metagenomic, microscopic, and isotopic techniques. More info at https://dekaslab.stanford.edu/opportunities. Review of applications will begin on Aug 10th. Start date is flexible, but the sooner the better!

Postdoctoral Scholars The Dekas Lab currently has a position open for a postdoctoral researcher to lead a project on the physiological and ecological characterization of microbial candidate phyla. More information can be found here: stanford_dekaslab_postdoc_candidatephyla_2018.pdf. Review of applic...
