Meet Mark Shunney, Stanford's self-styled “art ranger.” 🎨🌲

As the university's public art program manager, Shunney oversees the care and maintenance of more than 80 works of art on the Stanford campus and leads tours from a tiny eco trailer next to Meyer Green.

On the job, he wears a uniform of his own design that is both practical and symbolic. “‘Ranger’ is code for safety and care and conservation, and there’s a lot of overlap with the responsibility I task myself with in caring for these artworks and the experience of the public,” he said.
