Stanford University Human Cities Initiative The Human Cities Initiative: taking a human-centered approach to cities, putting people first.
(2)

At the Human Cities Initiative, we believe that great cities foster human relationships and social inclusion. By taking a whole systems approach to the research and practice of sustainable cities, we aim to work in local Bay Area and international cities as urbanization increasingly takes place in transnational contexts. We aim to identify distinct challenges of urbanization at different stages of

development and support human-centered technology, policy, and design strategies to effectively address those challenges. We nurture an interdisciplinary community of faculty, students, and community stakeholders based in mutual reciprocity and humility. We develop and practice ethical approaches, using frameworks that are inclusive (for many) and participatory (by many), and strive to benefit diverse human communities.
