July is Disability Pride Month! 🌈 Since 1990, it's been celebrated to mark the anniversary of the ADA - but it's about more than a law. It's about visibility, community, and celebrating disabled identity with pride, not just awareness.

More than 1 in 4 U.S. adults live with a disability, and here in Mississippi, that's an estimated 535,500 people. As counseling programs preparing future clinicians, understanding disability (visible and invisible, physical and psychiatric, sensory and neurodivergent) is part of showing up for the whole person.

Swipe through to learn about the disability pride flag, created by Ann Magill, and what each color represents. πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’šβ€οΈπŸ€

As the spring semester comes to a close and summer begins, it is important for counselors-in-training to create intentional space for rest, reflection, and wellness. πŸ’œ

This summer, the CASTLE Lab is excited to launch "From Surviving to Thriving", a virtual wellness series designed for graduate counseling students at Mississippi State University.

Our first session will focus on burnout awareness, sustainable self-care strategies, experiential wellness activities, and connection with peers and mentors.

Current MSU counseling graduate students should check their MSU email for registration information and additional details. Reach out to Dr. Castle with any questions!
