Mississippi State SMACS We represent Mississippi State's Undergraduate chapter of the Student Members of the American Chemical Society.

The Mississippi State SMACS Chapter represents the Student Members of the American Chemical Society. Our chapter has meetings held twice a month in Hand 1144 at 6:00 to discuss advances in the field of Chemistry, host guest speakers, and sign up for service projects. Our chapter also celebrates events like National Chemistry Week, Mole Day, and Chemists Celebrate Earth Day to help promote chemistr

y in our community. If you are interested, simply show up at a meeting so that our officers can add you to our members list and further explain the opportunities we provide. We are also a Green Chemistry Chapter that participates in and organizes "green" projects on campus and in the community.

Watch as SMACS has fun with some of the everyday things we encounter in chemistry in a style that gives a nod back to “Laugh-In”. This year’s SMACS team did an incredible job volunteering their time to bring us this.

We celebrated Earth Day a couple of days early this year! SMACS officers and members painted eco-friendly canvas bags while watching the pilot of Years of Living Dangerously. Remember, a good canvas bag is more durable and can save roughly 1000 wasteful plastic bags per year. Sadly not all are pictured, but everyone did an awesome job painting - who says scientists aren't creative?!
