🌟 Student Worker Spotlight: Kevion McGee 🌟

Meet Kevion McGee, one of our graduating library student workers for Spring 2026! 🎓

Originally from Grenada, Mississippi, and raised in Southaven, Kevion transferred to Mississippi State University from Holmes Community College to pursue his passion for Broadcast Meteorology. Inspired by a severe weather outbreak that sparked his interest in understanding the atmosphere and helping others stay informed, Kevion has spent his college career combining science, communication, and storytelling to prepare for a future as a television meteorologist.

During his time at MSU, Kevion has gained hands-on experience in forecasting, weather analysis, radar interpretation, and broadcast production. Alongside his meteorology studies, he is also pursuing an associate’s degree in Digital Media and Communication.

After graduation, he hopes to remain close to Mississippi and serve communities as a trusted local television meteorologist.

Congratulations, Kevion, and best wishes on your next chapter! 🌤️

The University Libraries were honored to welcome a distinguished delegation from Pontifical University Antonianum, one of Mississippi State University’s valued international partners, on April 9. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the depth and breadth of MSU Libraries’ world-class collections, innovative services, and growing global engagement.

During their time on campus, the delegation participated in a comprehensive tour that highlighted several of our most significant resources, including the Digitization Lab, where they explored cutting-edge efforts to preserve and expand access to rare and unique materials through advanced digital scholarship initiatives. The group also visited the renowned Williams Collection of Lincolniana, the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library & Museum, and the Charles H. Templeton Music Museum—each offering a distinctive lens into history, culture, and research excellence.

Throughout the visit, library faculty and staff engaged the delegation in meaningful dialogue about the role of academic libraries in supporting teaching, research, and public scholarship in a rapidly evolving global landscape. We were especially pleased to highlight how MSU Libraries integrates stewardship of priceless historical collections with forward-looking innovation in areas such as digitization, accessibility, and research infrastructure.

This visit reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing the land-grant mission through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared discovery. We look forward to building on this connection with the Pontifical University Antonianum in ways that further enrich scholarship, cultural understanding, and global engagement for both institutions.
