Sigma Pi at Penn State (Theta Chapter)

If you're in State College this weekend come join us at Theta Board's sponsored tailgate!

We've reserved spots at Little Jeffrey Field (Tent 13A) right next to the stadium. We'll have large TVs so those without tickets can stay for the game. We'll provide the tents, food, chairs, coolers, non-alcoholic beverages, and ice. The event is BYOB for alcohol. We will have coolers and ice and will bring some extra beer, but are limited as to what we can provide. So please plan to bring some of your own if interested.

We will be opening the tent at 8am, and the tent, TV, and remaining food will stay until 90 minutes after the game.

In 1943, nine members of the lacrosse team were Brothers of Theta Chapter. Six were varsity lettermen, to include the captain, senior Jim Gotwals. Among them was "Wild Bill" Hollenbach, who in 1947, scored the only Penn State goal in a 10 - 1 loss to Navy. Hollenbach was a standout goalie, who was selected to play in that year's postseason collegiate all-star game. On that same Penn State lax team was Theta Brother John R. Finley, who was also a varsity letterman in football along with Steve Suhey. Another Theta lacrosse teammate from 1949 was none other than Chapter Sage and eventual Grand Sage, Frank R. Fryburg.

Alumni Phil Simmons attended the Donald Ross Historian Meeting at St. David's Golf Club in Wayne, PA, and met the head golf pro Dean Kandle, a fellow Penn State Sigma Pi alumni from the class of 2001!

The countdown is on! Today marks 100 days until THON, a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

Join us this Saturday, October 13th, for the Penn State vs. Michigan State Homecoming Game Alumni Event. There will be a buffet breakfast starting at 8 a.m. at the house followed by a brothers meeting at 10 a.m. We hope to see you there!

What ever became of that pig?

A pig that wandered into the yard of a Penn State fraternity last weekend is getting good care at Pets Come First, the volunteer nonprofit that operates a no-kill shelter and adoption services in Centre Hall.

Nice to see our guys caring for an animal in need!

Fraternity brothers took the pig in as one of their own, feeding it and giving it water and a place to stay on Friday night before calling the police on Saturday afternoon.
