Strings at Southern Georgia Southern University String Program offers Full and Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Music and Inst Chamber Music

The String curriculum at Georgia Southern University Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music includes individual applied lessons, chamber music ensembles, and orchestra. Degrees offered include:
• Bachelor of Music with major in String Performance or Music Education
• Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, which allows students to minor in another academic area while pursuing a music degree
• Master of

Music degrees with emphases in Performance and Music Education
• Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Performance
String students at GSU, through their active involvement and commitment to artistic excellence, contribute significantly to the cultural life on campus, within the community and the southern coastal region of Georgia. Steven and Larisa Elisha offer string students comprehensive instruction in quartet and mixed chamber music ensembles as well as frequent performing experiences. Cellists and bass players enjoy performing in the Georgia Southern Low String Ensemble, the“Bass” –ically, Mellow-Cello-Fellowship. The Honors Magnolia String Quartet
Dr. Larisa Elisha - Director
As the premier string ensemble at Georgia Southern University, the Honors Magnolia String Quartet represents Georgia Southern University as musical ambassadors, performing for campus events, throughout Statesboro and surrounding communities. Selected by audition, members of the string quartet receive an exclusive scholarship, provided by a designated fund established in 2011. Recent appearances include performances at the Savannah Telfair Museum, Congregation Mikveh Israel, Hilton Head Symphony League Musicale and Strings at Southern Chamber Music Festival. The quartet won the MTNA State Chamber Music Competition, representing the State of Georgia in 2011 and 2012. Georgia Southern Symphony & String Camerata

The Georgia Southern Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music Symphony & String Camerata is comprised of talented string players from Georgia Southern University. Playing repertoire ranging from the Baroque to 20th/21st –Century, the ensemble performs throughout the Southeast Coastal region and participates each year in the Strings at Southern Chamber Music Festival. Presented by Chamber Music America and Georgia Southern University, high school and university string players from around Georgia and beyond have the opportunity to study with the internationally acclaimed Elaris Duo as well as other world-class artist-faculty. Activities include string master classes, chamber ensemble coachings, workshops, string chamber orchestra rehearsals as well as faculty and student performances.
