As Recruitment Week gets closer, we wanted to introduce our amazing VP Learning & Development, Kate Dufour (Fall ’24)!

Kate plays such an important role in welcoming our new members into Kappa Delta! She helps create the sisterhood and connections that make Kappa Delta so special! Now, let’s hear from Kate! 🤍👒

“Hi y’all!! I’m Kate Dufour, a rising Junior, and I’m beyond grateful to serve as Kappa Delta’s Vice President of Learning and Development!!

I still remember recruitment and bid day like it was yesterday 💚. Joining Kappa Delta has been such a gift. Not only has it helped me grow into the person I am today, but it’s also given me a loving support system and friendships that have truly changed my life.

If I could tell my freshman self about all the incredible moments and growth that awaited her through this sorority, she’d be absolutely amazed! In this role, I get to give back to my chapter that I cherish and do what I love most, pouring into others and being a true friend to our new girls. What I adore most about KD is how natural it all feels. No matter where I am on campus, there’s always a smiling face or a friend where I can always be myself. College is such a big adventure, and having best friends by your side makes the journey so much richer. It’s okay to feel nervous about change and starting this new chapter—we all were! I can’t promise it will always be easy, but I know that finding true friendships like i have in Kappa Delta makes every challenge worthwhile.

Let’s hear from one of our amazing Recruitment Assistants, Alivia Fortner!!!

Year in school: Senior
Pledge class: Fall ‘23

Why you wanted to serve on Recruitment Team:
I wanted to serve on Recruitment Team because of my love for this chapter! Recruitment played such a big role in helping me find my home in college and introduced me to friendships that have impacted my life in so many ways. I wanted the opportunity to share that experience with potential new members and help them find a place they can call home!!!

My advice for PNMs:
Be yourself and keep an open mind!! The best conversations happen when you’re genuine, and recruitment is all about finding the place where you feel most comfortable and supported. Trust the process, enjoy meeting new people, and remember that every door you walk through could lead to a lifelong friend!!!!💚

“KD made me feel safe to be fully myself. When I walked into KD during rush I never felt like I had to water myself down, act differently, talk differently, or fit some picture of who I thought everyone wanted me to be. They loved me for who I was!! The Lord knew exactly what He was doing when He led me here. Looking back at younger me, I never would’ve believed I’d one day be serving as chaplain and getting the opportunity to encourage girls in their walk with Christ. KD has softened me, challenged me, and loved me into a version of myself that I’m so thankful for. One of my favorite things about this chapter is that we are all SO different, with different personalities, gifts, and stories, but what we all have in common is our incredible love for each other. These girls will show up for you in EVERY season of life There is SO much joy in this house!! They say to surround yourself with ppl who feel like SUNSHINE, and boy did I lucky!!! If I could do it again I would choose KD every single time!!!

“I would choose KD over and over again! Both of my older sisters were both KD’s here at Georgia Southern and it has been such a joy to be able to share that with them. I knew when I walked into KD for the first time during recruitment I was right at home. Each conversation was genuine and made all of my nerves go away. I know I have so many new sisters in KD who will always be one call away. Getting to go through preference round with Rachel Threlkeld by my side who is now my big and best friend was a day I will never forget! KD is truly where my heart belongs and I will always be in debt to all it has given me.”
