Three years ago, Bangladesh Day at Georgia Southern started with around 50 attendees. Last year it grew to 100+, and this time—we proudly welcomed 150+ people.
We were honored to have Mayor Pro Tem Sharri R. Barr (City of Statesboro), Dr. David Weindorf (Vice President for Research & Economic Development), Dr. Avinandan Mukherjee (Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Aileen Dowell (Associate Vice President & Dean of Students) with us, along with faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
From traditional foods like jhalmuri, chotpoti, mishty, cha, bhorta, rice, daal, and shrimp, to henna (mehendi) and vibrant cultural performances—the day was a true celebration of Bangladesh. 🇧🇩
What makes us happiest is seeing our campus friends joining in, wearing cultural attire, and asking when the next one will be. Now they know Bangladesh—and they want more. Isn’t that amazing?
This has truly become one of the largest indoor cultural events at Georgia Southern organized by the international student community. Huge thanks to ISAP- Georgia Southern University for their continuous support and for inspiring us to grow every year.
We brought together different nations, cultures, ages, and communities—and we’re so glad it came together so beautifully.
Special thanks to everyone behind the scenes who made this possible.
See you next year, Eagles! 🦅
