Georgia Southern University BIG BIG is building an ecosystem in Georgia to help entrepreneurs. The Fab Lab will be managed by the Allen E.

The purpose of BIG is to develop a system to increase the number of businesses being formed and jobs being created, as well as the rate by which these businesses are able to grow. The development of the City Campus is being led by the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development (BBRED), and will result in the consolidation of entrepreneurship and business development programs in the Colle

ge of Business Administration. In addition to BBRED, this includes the Small Business Development Center, the Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership, as well as the new Innovation Incubator and Fab Lab. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology. The creation of an incubator/fab lab will serve as a major step in strengthening Georgia Southern’s regional economic impact and in advancing Georgia Southern and the City of Statesboro’s state-wide reputation for innovation and commercialization. The vision for the downtown facility is:
• To develop a vibrant creative and innovative community;
• To foster a culture of innovation that encourages business start-ups, business incubation and new job creation;
• To develop a system that enables entrepreneurs to create firms and graduate in the market-place; and,
• To streamline services in a manner that concentrates services and maximizes output.

Join us next Wednesday, September 10th at 12 PM for BIG Cafe featuring Richard Wynn of Lunatic Designs! Refreshments will be provided!

Richard Wynn will share his journey of shifting careers after retirement. After working in the ID card industry for over 20 years and spending 13 years at Georgia Southern, he launched his own 3D printing business, Lunatic Designs. Richard will discuss what inspired him to make this move, how his experience in operations and management has benefited him, and what it feels like to start as a team of one.

He will also explore the possibilities that 3D printing offers and share insights on how he uses Bambu Lab printers to create unique and innovative applications. Richard will highlight some challenges that come with learning new technology, as well as the opportunities that digital manufacturing presents for small businesses. He is eager to demonstrate how bold ideas, even "lunatic" ones, can lead to the best opportunities.
