Welcome to the department, Dr. Widmayer!

English and Languages Department Head - Welcome!


The College of Liberal and Fine Arts at Tarleton State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Anne Widmayer as Department Head of English and Languages, effective July 21.

Dr. Widmayer joined Tarleton from Wisconsin, where she taught for 23 years at several University of Wisconsin System. She has published numerous articles in academic journals, as well as two books with Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment: Theatre and the Novel from Behn to Fielding, and Gender and Emotion in Eighteenth-Century Britain: Raging Women and Crying Men. Dr. Widmayer is currently working on articles about the Chevalier/Chevaliere dโ€™Eon and the playwright-novelist Mary Pix.

Prizing transparency and collaboration as a department head, Dr. Widmayer embraces leading a vibrant department that includes specialists in literature, public and professional writing, creative writing, rhetoric, Spanish, French, ASL, and medical humanities.
COLFA congratulates her on this well-earned appointment and looks forward to her continued leadership.
