PUPUSAS! Words cannot even begin to describe how much fun we had not only tasting pupusas, but learning and attempting to make our own pupusas with our lovely interns Madison and Miranda with their special guest (and father) Mauricio Dimas. We loved having Mauricio tell us about his long journey from El Salvador to America and how he settled in Texas.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is a day to commemorate those who lost their lives to anti-transgender violence. This day lets the transgender and nonconforming gender populations know that their stories are not forgotten. Today also serves to raise further when is about the violence that has and still occurs towards community that many may not acknowledge.

How it began? First established in 1999 by transgender Advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith transgender day of remembrance initially served as a vigil to Rita Hester a transgender woman who was killed the year prior. Since then every year the names of those who have fallen victim to these hate crimes are read out loud and remembered by family friends allies and advocates.

National Coming Out Day 2020.

When did it begin?

National Coming Out was first inspired by the March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights on October 11th 1987. This event inspired Rob Eichberg, and Gina O'Leary to propose the idea and leave it or established the first celebration the very next year in 1988. Since then National Coming Out day has been observed on a yearly basis and continuously encourages positivity and pride and coming out to the world.

What does "coming out" mean? Coming out of the closet or coming out is when a person reveals to their peers their sexual orientation/identity. Coming out isn't always a one-time thing nor does it pertain to just coming out as LGBTQ+. Coming out is one of the most difficult actions but likely the most important step in owning your own identity.
