The Tarleton State University College of Education is pleased to announce the establishment of the Hanna4Hope Foundation Scholarship, a new opportunity supporting Tarleton students majoring in Psychology or Counseling. Among those representing Hanna4Hope at a recent signing ceremony on the Tarleton campus were co-founder Raina Clark and foundation board members, Robin Shrode and Lisa Windahl.

Created through a generous partnership with the Hanna4Hope Foundation, this scholarship will help address the growing need for qualified mental health professionals, particularly in rural communities. Eligible students must be graduates of high schools in Bosque, Comanche, Erath, Eastland, Hamilton, Hood, Palo Pinto, Parker, or Somervell counties.

Dr. Lesley Leach, Dean of the Tarleton State College of Education, expressed her gratitude to Hanna4Hope “for recognizing how vital scholarships like this are in the face of our growing mental health crisis. By supporting students in Counseling and Psychology, this fund will help remove financial barriers and empower the next generation of professionals to serve communities across Texas.”

After more than a decade of advocacy and awareness efforts surrounding teen su***de and depression, Hanna4Hope is excited to expand its mission with this scholarship fund, providing vital financial assistance to Tarleton students dedicated to improving mental health outcomes. Last Friday, Tarleton State University’s School of Behavioral Sciences hosted the Psychology and Applied Behavioral Career (PABC) event. This event was designed for Tarleton students to explore career and research opportunities and experience poster presentations, psychology demonstrations, study abroad, and volunteer opportunities that community members from different organizations presented. Tarleton students were able to learn about various aspects of psychology and applied sociology, which many students may have experienced for the first time. Dr. Jamie Borchardt and Robyn Pless put the event together. It was made possible through grant funding from the APA Division 2 Southwestern Teaching of Psychology Association. This was an excellent experience for both professors and students!
