The Department of Visual Arts and Design at Tarleton State University is excited to present the 11th Annual Juried Student Exhibition, opening on March 7, 2025, at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery. The exhibition will run through March 31, 2025. This annual event showcases a selection of outstanding works from students enrolled in the Studio Art and Digital Media Studies programs. The pieces on display were chosen by our juror, Layla Luna, a Fort Worth-based artist and former Artist-in-Residence.

The exhibition celebrates the diversity of artistic expression, featuring a wide range of mediums and creative approaches. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the talent of our student artists. Whether you're an art enthusiast, a student, or a member of the local community, this exhibition offers something for everyone.

The artists in this year’s juried exhibition are: Jo Wolfe, Sam Boeck, Hailey Faris, Jasmin Patterson, Diego Campos, Hudson Woodring, Skylar Ronalder, Alyssa Hurst, Sierra Williams, Kaylee Wessels, Caleb Menefee, Samantha McDole, Amanda Rodriguez, Sierra Hoefelmann, Sharon Espinoza, Monica Zarza-Rosales, and Raz Chism.

The annual Juried Student Exhibition is accepting entries for the Spring 2025 semester. We are accepting ALL forms of work, 2d, 3d, graphic design, video, game design, etc. Participants will have a chance to win cash prizes along with the chance to attend the Presidents Circle reception in March!

Please put your artwork in FA 164 with your name, title of work, and medium. If your work is digital, please send your work to [email protected] your name, the title of the pieces, and the medium. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025. If you have any questions, please reach out to any Visual Arts and Design faculty.

The Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery will be collaborating with the visiting faculty in the Visual Arts and Design Program for an exhibition this February titled Beyond the City Limits: Visiting Artists Explore Hill Country.The show will feature works by Joseph Lloyd, Jesus Rodriguez, Yanina Blanco, and Valerie Van Over, encompassing a variety of artistic styles and genres. The exhibition highlights the work of contingent faculty members, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in creative activities while navigating the challenges of teaching in a new place. This exhibition seeks to shed light on the artistic contributions of these educators and celebrate their impact beyond the classroom. The show will open on February 12, 2025, and conclude on February 28, 2025. There will be a reception with the artists at 12:00 PM-1:00pm on February 20, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery.

Paho Mann's work has been included in exhibitions at the Arizona State University Art Museum, Tempe, Arizona, Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, Arizona, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, California Museum of Photography, Riverside, California, Galleri Urbane, Dallas, Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Arizona, FotoFest, Houston, and the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, among others. Mann's work is included in collections of the Tucson Museum of Art, the Museum at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland, Kansas, and the City of Phoenix Public Art Program.
Mann was born in 1978 on his parent's homestead near Snowflake, Ariz.

In 1992, he moved with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2001, he received a B.F.A. from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and his M.F.A. in 2007 from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona., and is currently an Associate Professor of Art at the University of North Texas.

The Department of Visual Arts and Design will show Paho Mann’s works in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery from January 15, 2025 to February 5, 2025. Mann is a photography and lens-based media artist whose works investigate the cultural and interpersonal relationships between human beings and the objects we surround ourselves with. Fascinated by how digital tools affect our interpretation of the world around us, Mann’s works highlight the complicated relationship between tradition and innovation. Mann’s works have been shown at venues such as the Arizona State University Art Museum, the Walker Art Center, as well as the Carnegie Museum of Art. Since receiving his MFA from Arizona State University in 2007, Mann has taught at the University of North Texas in the Visual Arts and Design Department.
