Congratulations, Dave!

Congratulations, Dave!

We’re very happy to share that Professor Dave Dettman is one of this year’s UWSP Excellence in Teaching Award recipients!

Dave teaches information literacy courses and works with students across disciplines and majors, helping them learn how to research, evaluate information, think critically, and engage in thoughtful dialogue. These are skills that matter far beyond the classroom. From first-year students just learning how college research works to seniors working on major projects, Dave meets students where they are and helps them become more confident thinkers, researchers, and communicators.

Many students will tell you he’s one of the most memorable professors they’ve had. We see the impact of his teaching every day in the students he mentors, the classes he teaches, and the work he does across campus.

We’re very lucky he’s a librarian, colleague, and teacher at UWSP. Congratulations, Dave. Well deserved!

We’re happy to share that Sean Ruppert is the recipient of this year’s Academic Staff Excellence Award.

As many of you know, Sean serves as the campus Canvas Administrator and Instructional Support Specialist, supporting hundreds of faculty, instructors, and staff across all three UW–Stevens Point campuses. In addition to his regular responsibilities, Sean has gone above and beyond this year by developing and implementing support structures to help faculty navigate new requirements for digital accessibility in course materials.

We are grateful for Sean’s dedication and expertise and are thrilled to see him recognized in this way. Thank you to the faculty, instructors, and staff who took the time to nominate him. Congratulations, Sean!

Feel free to share your congrats to Sean in the comments!
