UWSP Department of Biology

UWSP Department of Biology The UW-Stevens Point Department of Biology is a center of excellence in education and undergraduate research. Most of our classes and labs are taught by a Ph.D.

Our 25 faculty teach more than 500 biology majors and also serve the College of Natural Resources and College of Professional Studies majors. Student-professor interaction is a high priority at UW-Stevens Point. instructor with expertise in the field, and we offer many opportunities for undergraduate research. UW-Stevens Point biology students excel in organismal biology and are encouraged to participate in field courses.

We are excited for a robust Symposium this Friday. We will have 106 research projects from across the College!

Join us for the opening presentation at the Haeni Chemistry Biology Building Friday at 2 p.m., followed by student presentations on three floors!

Symposium Check-in will take place in the Dean’s Office (HCBB 200) from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. bit.ly/3JHsKK9

πŸ₯³ Dr. Sarah Orlofske, biology, with a new article in the Journal of Parasitology. This one with an co-author!

Alumna Roxanne Gasperetti was a key member of the Orlofske Parasitology Lab at UWSP. Now, those research efforts are bearing fruit with her first published journal article, co-authored with Dr. Sarah Orlofske, associate professor of biology and other colleagues in the field.

Gasperetti is now a Ph.D. biology student at the University of North Dakota. She was recently awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship to help cover the research for the next three years! πŸ₯³
