"Every other subject depends on language and literacy."
The inaugural cohort of the new Ed.D. in Language and Literacy online program is on campus this week for a summer residency, where students are collaborating, learning, researching and exploring what it means to be a doctoral student.
Coming from 14 different states and a wide variety of professions, the group of 26 kicked off the residency Tuesday with a keynote address from Prof. Perry Cook, a personalized learning community (PLC) workshop, a campus tour and team-building activities designed to help them get to know one another, thanks to the UW-Stevens Point Office of Sustainability. The tour included stops at UWSP Libraries and the UW-Stevens Point Communication Sciences and Disorders Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, a partner of the program that helps make it unique.
We’re excited to see how cohort 1 will help bridge the current research-to-practice gap in K-12 educational systems!
