Can't wait to work with the UWSP Department of Political Science on ViewPoint Dialogue & Dinners next month!

Congratulations to Associate Professor Saemyi Park, who received a grant from the Universities of Wisconsin Office of Civic Engagement to launch ViewPoint Dialogue & Dinners at UW–Stevens Point during the 2026–27 academic year. 👏

The grant supports four campus-wide Dialogue & Dinner events that will bring students together over a shared meal for respectful, small-group conversations across different perspectives. It also supports four undergraduate student facilitators, creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in dialogue facilitation, civic engagement, and research collaboration. 📚

Through the initiative, Dr. Park will also conduct research examining students’ experiences with dialogue across differences and the potential of these conversations to strengthen civic engagement. 🧐

From the lab to the conference floor. James Po***ck, left and Isabel Bauer, right, conducted research in the lab of Joe Mondloch, chemistry, on the use of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to remove PFAS (aka forever chemicals) from water.

They presented at the American Chemical Society's () Fall Conference in the Division of Environmental Chemistry. The work is supported by the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin. 🧑‍🔬💧

The conference presentations also included a talk by Dr. Mondloch titled, "Influence of Charge Compensating Anions on the Adsorption of Perfluorinated Ions in MOF-808". UWSP faculty Shannon Riha and Nate Bowling were also in attendance.

Have you seen our living wall in the Tropical Conservatory lately? It's just past the entry on the main floor.

Student manager Sarah Dawe started seed trays last winter and repotted the plants as they grew. With help from Kevin Wald, they placed the planted buckets into the wall. Now a number of the plants are in gorgeous bloom. Come check them out in Haeni Chemistry Biology Building!
