Cure for chytrid? Scientists discover method to eliminate killer fungus: www.amphibians.org/news/cure-for-chytrid/

“The research results presented in the Bosch et al 2015 paper are adding to our toolkit to effectively combat emerging infectious diseases in amphibians around the world. However, as acknowledged by the authors, urgent research is still needed to determine what, if any, the potential unintended consequences of Virkon S are on the entire ecosystem, including beneficial microbes and other forms of biodiversity” said Reid Harris, Director of International Disease Mitigation with the Amphibian Survival Alliance.

(1) Learn about three different types of wetlands you can build: ground water fed, surface water fed, or those using pesticide-free liners;
(2) Visit recently constructed ponds (such as the one below) to assess their success and plant native vegetation;
(3) Visit several potential wetland sites (such as the site shown below) and design wetlands to be built in 2016;
(4) Learn about building small backyard wetlands by hand and larger wetlands with heavy machinery;
(5) Learn about the three endangered amphibian species that live in the vicinity of the Elkhorn Slough;
(6) Learn about permitting procedures related to wetland construction and restoration;
(7) Learn about SAVE THE FROGS! worldwide amphibian conservation efforts including our efforts to Re-Frog America;

Nov. 12, 2015 - At one time there was only one known Wyoming toad in the wild. Once a frequent sight on the Wyoming plains, the toad had nearly become extinct after a sharp decrease in population in the late 1970s. Habitat loss, climate change, and a fungus are all…

The inaugural meeting of SAVE THE FROGS! Panama was held at the University of Panama in Panama City on October 15th, 2015. The meeting was led by SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger, an amphibian biologist who has coordinated over 1,600 environmental educational events in 60 countries. Approximately 30 Panamanians were in attendance. Dr. Kriger gave an overview of amphibian natural history, threats to amphibians, and ways people can help save frogs from extinction. Dr. Kriger introduced 30 attendees to SAVE THE FROGS' worldwide efforts on behalf of amphibians. During the second half of the meeting, Dr. Kriger and 13 participants created and signed the Constitution of SAVE THE FROGS! Panama, officially founding the organization, which is Central America's first official branch of SAVE THE FROGS!.
