Montanna Heinz ('26 Graphic Design) had the opportunity as a student to create a permanent mural in the new Health and Wellness Center on campus - here's what she shared about the experience:

Through my work at University Centers, I was able to design a mural for the new Health and Wellness Center. I was asked to design a mural that highlights students and represents intramurals, club sports, group ex classes, aquatics, climbing wall, and university health and counseling services.

This was my first time designing something at this scale and creating an environmental graphic, but I approached it with confidence and treated it like any other design problem. I focused on clarity, movement, and energy, and used the university’s secondary color palette to keep everything aligned with brand standards.

My Marketing Manager, Kimberly Dunham, made this mural possible, and we settled on black and white photography, so it wasn’t too busy on the wall but keeping it eye catching with pops of color. The mural was designed to be student-centered, with the goal of showcasing students engaging with the Health and Wellness Center and highlighting other connected campus spaces.

Congratulations on a job well done, Montanna! We can't wait to see where your career takes you.
