By supporting the Okstate iGEM, not only are you supporting undergraduate research and student development, but you’re also supporting our environment and agriculture! Climate change is major problem for our generation and agriculture gets a bad reputation for their involvement. The Okstate iGEM team wants to change that by looking into genetically engineered bacteria that will convert methane in agricultural wastewater to methanol which can be used as a biofuel. iGEM is an annual competition held by MIT in which teams from across the world create a solution to a problem in society and use synthetic biology to showcase how their solution would work. This year, the Okstate iGEM team is tackling methane emission from agriculture wastewater. Climate change is one of the leading problems for our generation and as a land grant institution, agriculture is a large part of Oklahoma and our research purpose.

iGEM gives undergraduate students the chance to conduct their own research project and then network with companies, peers from around the world, and faculty from other institutions at the Grand jamboree for the competition. However, the Okstate iGEM can't compete or send our students to the Grand jamboree without your help.

For the next five weeks, the Okstate iGEM team is raising $5000 to send our students to the Grand Jamboree in 2023.
