Please join us in congratulating our June student of the month! Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Audrey Garner is an outstanding psychology student who has demonstrated excellence in academics, undergraduate research, and campus involvement. A Dean’s List honoree from 2023–2026, Audrey presented research on inner speech and academic achievement at the 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium and, during the 2025–2026 academic year, is participating in undergraduate research examining cricket behavior in response to aversive stimuli.

Reflecting on her experience as a psychology student, she shares, “Studying psychology at OSU has not only enhanced my understanding of behavior but has motivated me to grow in empathy and self-awareness, fostering a deeper appreciation for myself and others.”

Following graduation, Audrey plans to pursue a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology to promote equity and efficiency in workplace environments.

Join us in congratulating Danielle Washington as the Student of the Month. Danielle is from Oklahoma City. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree with a minor in Applied Music. Danielle has made the most of every opportunity both inside and outside the classroom. She served as a research assistant for the Daily Spark Study in Dr. Dian Yu’s SeEDS Lab, exploring key topics related to self-regulation and socioemotional development among children from diverse backgrounds. Under Dr. Yu’s mentorship, she participated in the Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Oklahoma Psychological Society conference. Beyond research, Danielle is a talented violist in the violin and viola at the Greenwood School of Music.

Reflecting on their time as a psychology student, they shared: “I have loved my experience studying psychology at OSU. My experience working in Dr. Yu’s research lab was the highlight of my time at OSU, and I am incredibly grateful for it!”

After graduation, they plan to pursue graduate studies in clinical psychology, focusing on mental well-being in historically marginalized communities.
