Political science is about the study of power and how it is used to govern societies. As a field, it uniquely prepares students to become knowledgeable and effective citizens and teaches them skills that are applicable to a wide variety of career choices. Political science students learn to think independently, communicate effectively, understand complex social structures, and function effectively

in a multicultural world. Our department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science and fire and emergency management.
