Tri-Beta is a national honor society for students in biological sciences who seek to stimulate research and scholarly attainment, promote development

of interdisciplinary exchange and encourage the spread of information relating to new scientific discoveries. Goals of our chapter of BBB include

- enhancement of student’s professional resume

- increasing student involvement in scientific inquiry at OSU

- promoting a forum for OSU students to discuss issues pertaining to research, graduate school, education and outreach

- providing opportunities for collaboration and camaraderie among life science majors on campus



During our meetings we plan to

- host guest speakers to talk about research and opportunities for undergraduate students

- learn more about career and internship opportunities

- develop and improve professional skills

- work on outreach projects in our community

- collaborate and have fun!

Friday 11 April @ 2:00 pm the Grad College is hosting an Open House! It's a great opportunity for those of you who are planning on going to grad school to stop by and check things out! Can't remember, but I think there's also some FREE FOOD involved.

Hope everyone is having a great semester. Next Wednesday Tri-Beta will be having a joint meeting with Pre-Health Club. We will have one of my favorite people coming to speak with us, Dr. Cara Pence. She is a General Surgeon and Wound Care Specialist at Stillwater Medical Center. She will also be bringing a third year surgical resident and they will discuss medical school and becoming a doctor. Hope to see everyone there who is interested! It's at 6:00pm next Wednesday. I'll post with room specifics soon.

Our meeting will be Feb. 18th at 6:00pm in LSW 102. Relay for Life-Colleges Against Cancer will be sending someone to speak to us about getting involved this year. Hope to see you all there!
