The Firefighter Safety Stand Down is a joint initiative of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Safety, Health and Survival Section, the National Volunteer Fire Council, the National Fire Protection Association, the Fire Department Safety Officers Association, and the International Association of Fire Fighters and is supported by national and international fire and emergency service organizations as well as health and safety-related organizations and agencies.
This event is held during the third full week of June. This year, the event falls on June 14-20. Fire departments and emergency medical services are encouraged to provide additional education and training for their employees. This year’s event focuses on Responder Behavioral Health.
This year’s campaign encourages departments to take a proactive approach to firefighter fitness:
• Foundations of Firefighter Fitness
• Intentional
• Technique
• Nutrition
• Evaluation
• Sleep
• Strategies for Success
