Yesterday marked the start of Pacific Summer High School Institute Session 1! Students from all parts of the globe have arrived to experience independent college life, expand their academic knowledge and discover themselves right here on our Stockton Campus.

Many have heard about our big announcement earlier this week: the launch of a School of Medicine at University of the Pacific. But what few know is that Pacific actually started the very first in the Western United States – back in 1858. The fundraising campaign for the new School of Medicine at University of the Pacific is off and running thanks to a major gift by Regent Tony Chan and his wife, former Regent Virginia Chan, both proud 1977 graduates of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy.

University of the Pacific’s planned School of Medicine is receiving early and enthusiastic support from alumni and donors.

What a month: Gabriela Lena Frank was named Musical America’s Composer of the Year. Her opera about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera is being performed at the Met. And earlier this month she won the Pulitzer Prize for Music. Wow!
