Faculty Spotlight
Research by Zachary A. Morris, PhD, MSW, MPhil, Assistant Professor, on the extra costs of disability in the U.S. was recently cited and described as "seminal" in testimony before the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Click the link to read the Senate testimony:

"With my research, I hope to advance the financial and social inclusion of people with disabilities. A specific focus is to bring attention to the many expenses that people with disabilities incur, how these costs impact financial security and poverty, and examine ways to mitigate these costs and improve the financial well-being of people with disabilities." ~ Dr. Morris
And there's more! Dr. Morris organized a panel session on the out-of-pocket costs incurred by people with disabilities at the fall Association for Policy Analysis and Management Conference in Washington DC. The panel brings together leading international researchers and policy makers to discuss policies that can expand the financial inclusion of people with disabilities.
In addition, and in collaboration with second year MSW student, Lisa Rasmussen, Dr. Morris wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Shelter Island Reporter about the need to rethink the paratransit system on Long Island for people with disabilities. Read here:
