When more young Black males see more Black male doctors, they will say, “I can do that, too.” Today, however, Black men have the lowest life expectancy in the U.S. And only 2 percent of doctors in the U.S. are Black men. We can do better than that. We must. For everyone’s sake.

“Black Men in White Coats” is a powerful 80-minute documentary that highlights the lack of Black men in medicine and encourages communities to support high school and college-age Black males in becoming physicians. In addition to the upcoming free screening, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss the film with our panelists and gain insights into the Black male experience in medicine and learn about programs Stony Brook offers to help attract Black males to the field of medicine. https://bit.ly/3oakyXL

*This free screening was made possible by the generosity of the American Medical Association (AMA).

Warm greetings valued members and colleagues,
This is a friendly reminder that the start of our 8th Annual Conference is less than one week away! This year's annual conference will be provided in an asynchronous, pre-recorded manner in which all content will be available electronically from November 1, 2021 through February 1, 2022. Delivery in this fashion will enable you to watch the presentations on your own schedule and timeline, while still being able to earn 7.5 CEUs. The standard Q&A session that normally occurs during a live session will be done through electronic correspondence with our presenters during the access time period. Please see the attached conference flyer for topics and presenters. Our keynote speaker is Tammy Toney-Butler, an international speaker and subject matter expert on Human Trafficking. Her presentation is titled, Human Trafficking: Intersections with Healthcare. Access to all content will be emailed to the address you register with on our marketplace site. To register for the conference, visit our marketplace website at https://li-napnap.square.site/
Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues, as the content of this conference is highly informative and incredibly relevant to the current landscape of the pediatric population.
