How does public health connect to the environment? We’re glad you asked!

Protecting the planet = Protecting ourselves. 🔄
Public health and environmental health are two sides of the same coin. By building cleaner, greener spaces, we’re creating a future where everyone has the chance to thrive. Let’s invest in our environment today for a healthier tomorrow.

“Public health is so much more than socioeconomics... it affects our everyday lives.”

Today, we’re highlighting Nicole Ramlogan, an MHA student who is taking action to solve one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today: Access.

By focusing on healthcare finance, Nicole is working toward a future where hospital departments have exactly what they need to operate at their highest potential—ensuring that the system grows with the patient’s needs in mind.

Join us in celebrating Nicole and all our students who are ready to take action for a healthier world! 🌍✨

In honor of , we’re chatting with faculty member Dr. Andy Flescher. As a bioethicist, Andy views public health as our collective effort to help one another flourish.

From his work with the Organ and Procurement Transplant Network to training our MPH students as living donor advocates, Andy’s work ensures that “the gift of life” is handled with equity, transparency, and care.

“Working in public health isn’t just intellectually engaging, but also life-affirming and deeply affecting.”

Good health doesn’t just happen on its own—it takes all of us working together! This National Public Health Week, let’s celebrate the incredible science, systems, and community partnerships that keep us safe and thriving. Is sleep a social determinant of health?

Dr. Lauren Hale weighs in for National Sleep Month. The truth is, the ability to get a good night’s sleep isn’t equally distributed.

Factors like:
• Work schedules
• Caregiving responsibilities
• Financial stress
• Housing safety..all dictate who gets to rest and who doesn’t. When sleep is disrupted, it impacts everything from mental health to long-term disease risk.

It’s time to move beyond “just go to bed earlier” and start talking about the social conditions that allow for true recovery.
