Theta Tau - Zeta Epsilon Chapter at SBU

Stony Brook University's only co-ed professional engineering fraternity. Engineering leaders for Service, Profession, and Brotherhood.

Theta Tau is the oldest, largest, and foremost Fraternity for Engineers. Since its founding at the University of Minnesota in 1904, over 30,000 have been initiated over the years. With emphasis on quality and a strong fraternal bond, the Fraternity has chapters only at ABET accredited schools and limits the number of student members in any one of its chapters across the nation.

ONE day left until Rush kicks off with Game Night, so meet the ONE and ONLY...Ayaz Javaid

Year: Junior
Major: Mechanical Engineering

What is something you really want to learn but haven't gotten a chance to get to yet? I really want to get better at cooking. 🥘 So far I'm sticking to the basics and I can really chef it up for most breakfast foods but hit me up in a few months and I'll make you some Gordon Ramsey level type dish. 👨‍🍳

What do you do when you're not in class? It's usually one of three things. Either I'm sleeping, I'm watching youtube or I'm editing. 📸

What did you do over Winter Break? I tried hanging out with friends often and caught some crazy sunsets at beaches around the island. 🏖 Besides that, I tried working on a few personal projects. Recently, I finished a video that I've been planning on making for a minute now and I feel like I can sleep forever now. 💯

What are you most looking forward to for Rush? I'm excited to meet some cool people! Rush week is always hype and it's the perfect time to make some friends that'll last you a lifetime. All the events look super cool this semester and I can't wait to finally do something else besides sleep 😜.

Fun Fact?? I'm a huge nerd for early 2000s cartoons, they're basically what got me into film making.👾

What show do you think everyone should watch? Alice in Borderlands is insaaane. 😳 🤩

What is something you never get tired of doing? I really love meeting new people! Making friends is always a lot of fun and if you know me, you know I loooove talking. 😍

Pepsi or Coca-Cola? Coke. 1/2 because I think it's better and 1/2 because I live down the hall from Will and I like being alive. 😩😌✌️

Milk first or cereal first? Cereal first. Stay away from me with that psycho type nonsense. 💀💯

What do you do when you're not in class? Trying to catch up in said classes 🤠

What are you most looking forward to for Rush? Meeting new people who want to be a part of our big family!! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

What show do you think everyone should watch? Attack on Titan 👀👀

What is something you really want to learn but haven't gotten a chance to get to yet? How to play an instrument 🎼😤

Pepsi or Coca-Cola? Coca-cola because their logo looks better 👌

Milk first or cereal first? Cereal first so it can soak up all the milk 🌾

If you clean a vacuum, do you become a vacuum cleaner? No, you would be a vacuum cleaner cleaner 🤯

If a tomato is a fruit, does that mean ketchup is a smoothie? I think salsa 💃 would be a closer definition of a smoothie in this context

What do you do when you're not in class?
I actually don’t have class. 🤯 I have a co-op, which is an internship that counts for class! 💪💯

What did you do over Winter Break?
I worked for Datadog, January 29 was my last day. I worked virtually but still got to have stand ups everyday so I could see everyone and got to know a lot of what my team does. I also organized monthly events for my team such as virtual escape room, secret Santa 🎅 and a mixologist class. 🤯

What are you most looking forward to for Rush?
I look forward to meeting new people, I really want to find a little 😩🤭

What is something you really want to learn but haven't gotten a chance to get to yet? I have been meaning to learn Hindi for a while now 📖😤📚. I love languages and I definitely would like to finally have a conversation with my grandparents in their native tongue 🥰

What do you do when you're not in class? When I’m not in class I’m either reading, listening to music or watching something on Netflix 📺

What did you do over Winter Break? I was able to go to Nevada and see some national parks which was amazing 🗺️. I went to the Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Mojave Desert and Valley of Fire which were all stunning and I would highly recommend any of them! 🏞️🏜️

What are you most looking forward to for Rush? Looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces! I think we could all use some social interaction these days and I know that our rush chairs have planned some fun events so I know it’s going to be a good time 👋👋

What show do you think everyone should watch? The Queen’s Gambit ♟️, Lupin 🎭, and Peaky Blinders 🔍 (thank me later 😊)

Pepsi or Coca-Cola? Pepsi...is what I would say if I wake up every day and choose violence 🤭

What do you do when you're not in class? Sleep, eat, repeat....and accidentally watching 10 episodes of a show in one day 🥴

What did you do over Winter Break? Planning rush with my co-chair David Zhao, and the occasional boba run with friends 😋

What are you most looking forward to for Rush? Making 3D sculptures with everyone on 2/17 ✂️📝🦜

What show do you think everyone should watch? The Promised Neverland and Attack on Titan (so uhhh...about episode 67…😭)

What is something you really want to learn but haven't gotten a chance to get to yet? Longboard dancing 🛹! I learned how to not fall off the board this past summer and I'm excited to take it out of the garage once the weather gets warmer again ☀️

Fun Fact?? I still often confuse my left and right, for my driver’s test I ALMOST made a right turn when the inspector asked for a left turn ⬅️➡️🤷‍♀️
