Please join us in welcoming our newest PRODiG+ Fellow! 🎉
Dr. Haisu Huang's research advances environmental justice scholarship by examining how climate hazards, environmental policies, and energy transitions unevenly distribute risks and resources—and how communities understand, challenge, and navigate these inequalities in everyday life.
Using qualitative and ethnographic methods, their work connects large-scale transformations such as disaster, deindustrialization, and decarbonization to lived experiences of housing insecurity, health risk, and belonging.
At the heart of their research are critical questions: Who is protected? Who is exposed? And who gets a say when environments are transformed?
We’re thrilled to welcome a scholar whose work not only advances sociological understanding of environmental inequality, but also seeks to support more equitable responses to climate disruption and inspire students to imagine and build more just futures. 🌎✨
Welcome to Stony Brook Dr. Huang! 🌊🐺❤️
