✨ An evening of inspiring words, powerful stories, and community! ✨

The IAAC Literary Festival 2024 Poetry Panel brings together celebrated voices who capture the heart of Indian culture and heritage in unique ways:

🌿 Krishna Ramanujan and Guillermo Rodríguez will delve into ‘Soma: Poems by A.K. Ramanujan’, exploring how A.K. Ramanujan wove his vast knowledge of Indian literature and tradition into his poetry, drawing inspiration from "Soma," the mysterious plant of Vedic ritual. Krishna, a seasoned science writer at Cornell University, has covered topics like climate change, ecology, and biology for NASA and Earthwatch Radio, winning the SUNY Award for Excellence in Writing (2022). Guillermo, a pioneer in Indo-Spanish cultural exchange, founded Casa de la India, a leading cultural center in Spain, setting new standards for cultural diplomacy.

🎼 Anand Thakore, poet and author of six books of verse, will present ‘Three Indian Poets’, an updated edition of Bruce King’s seminal anthology, featuring selections from Charles Wallace Fellow and T.S. Eliot Prize-shortlisted poets.

🎨 Diane Mehta will share her collection ‘Tiny Extravaganzas’, a series of "miniaturist epics" that navigate grief and art with creativity and surprise, recognized with prestigious fellowships at Civitella Ranieri and Yaddo, among others.

🌸 Kashiana Singh presents ‘Woman by the Door’, a soulful collection of poems exploring memory, grief, and hope. Like the "quintessential woman" at the threshold, these poems capture the search for new beginnings and meaning. Kashiana embodies her TEDx talk theme, "Work as Worship," in her everyday life.

The Poetry Panel will be moderated by Pushcart Prize-winning poet, translator, and professor Ravi Shankar.
