What a season.

From the first arrows of the fall to the final shots this spring, this team showed what it means to compete with heart, grow through the process, and believe in something bigger than themselves. There were personal bests, podium finishes, road trips, service projects, and moments that brought us closer as a team, and those are the ones that stick with you.

As we wrapped up the year, we had the chance to celebrate a few individuals who helped shape this season:

Best Teammate Award
Sydney Borntrager & Lee Houser

Newcomer of the Year
Laura von Neupert & Conner Johnson

Most Improved Archer
Gracy Elsenbast & Ethan Stemper

Most Valuable Archer
Madison Overby & Joe Knieper

We also want to give a special thank you to our captains, Rosa, Lee, and Joe, for their leadership, commitment, and the example they set every single day. Strong teams are built on people like you.

And to our seniors, Sydney, Rosa, Madison, and Lee, thank you for the heart, leadership, and dedication you’ve poured into this program. You’ve helped build something special here, and your impact will carry on long after your final shot.

Proud doesn’t quite cover it. Grateful gets a little closer.

The season may be over, but the belief keeps going.

Today was all about giving back.

As part of Buenafication Day, BVU Archery joined the campus community in serving the places and people around us. Our team spent the day cleaning up a recreation pond area, a community baseball field, a campground, and a beach, rolling up our sleeves and getting to work.

But more than anything, it was about showing up for each other and for our community. Because at BVU Archery, community isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we live out.

Shoutout to Senior Madison Overby. Madison was a student co-director of all of Buenafication day and did an amazing job planning it all. Incredibly proud of you representing BVU and BVU Archery!

Proud of this team for leading with service, supporting one another, and making a positive impact beyond the range.

Signing Day Spotlight!

Please help us welcome Chase Nelson from Prairie High School to BVU Archery!

Chase has been actively involved in archery, trap shooting, and his church youth group, building a strong foundation of discipline, service, and community. He brings a quiet leadership to everything he does, leading by example with kindness, thoughtfulness, and a steady presence both on and off the range.

In the classroom, Chase plans to study Computer Science as he works toward a future as a Cyber Security Analyst, combining his focus and problem-solving mindset in a field that demands both precision and dedication.

We're excited for the leadership and character Chase will bring to our growing team and can't wait to see his impact at BVU.

Welcome to the Beaver family, Chase!

This past weekend, the Buena Vista University Archery Team hit the road to Brookings, South Dakota for the Big Sioux JOAD Runnings Big Shot Archery Shoot, and the scores told one story… but the moments told an even better one.

On the competition side:
🥈 Madison Overby battled her way to a 2nd place finish in Female Freestyle

And in Female Barebow… BVU didn’t just show up, we swept the podium:
🥇 Leah Becker – 1st
🥈 Keilana Lieb – 2nd
🥉 Rosaly Giralt-Betancourt – 3rd

But the real bullseye of the weekend came after the arrows were pulled.

We gathered to celebrate four seniors who have helped build this program from the ground up: Madison Overby, Sydney Borntrager, Rosa Perrotti, and Lee Houser.

Each signed off on their BVU archery careers in front of teammates, family, and friends, sharing words that will stick with this team far longer than any scorecard. Coach Conner reflected on their journeys, their impact, and the legacy they leave behind… and yeah, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

This is what BVU Archery is all about.

A culture built on accountability, resilience, and community. A standard passed down, not just talked about. A family that shoots together, grows together, and shows up for each other in the moments that matter most.

These four weren’t just part of the program… they were the foundation.

And because of them, the future is flying straight.

1,794 miles. 179 gallons of gas. Countless memories. 💙🏹

That was the journey for BVU Archery as we traveled to the NFAA Indoor Nationals in Memphis, and the team made every mile count.

Our archers showed up ready to compete and delivered multiple personal bests on one of the biggest stages in indoor archery.

Collegiate Bowhunter Female
🥈 Freshman Jaime Pouliot
🥉 Junior Gracy Elsenbast

Collegiate Barebow Male
🥉 Freshman Conner Johnson

Collegiate Bowhunter Male
4️⃣ Sophomore Ethan Stemper, finishing just outside the podium

Another highlight came from Joe Knieper, who bounced back from an equipment malfunction on Saturday to shoot a perfect 300 on Sunday. Talk about resilience.

Beyond the scores, this trip was about the full experience. We explored Memphis, grew closer as a team, and made new friends from across the archery community. Moments like these are what build a program and remind us what it means to be a Beaver Archer.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this journey and helped make it possible. Your belief travels every mile with us.

Big finishes in Memphis! 💙🏹

The Beavers had another strong showing at the NFAA Indoor Nationals in Memphis!

In the Collegiate Bowhunter Female Division, Freshman Jaime Pouliot captured 2nd place, while teammate Junior Gracy Elsenbast secured 3rd place. Even more impressive, both archers shot personal records on the national stage.

When the pressure was highest, they rose to the moment. Proud of the focus, determination, and belief these two brought to the line. The future continues to look bright for BVU Archery.

Podium in Memphis! 💙🏹

Freshman Conner Johnson delivered a big performance at the NFAA Indoor Nationals, finishing 3rd overall in the Collegiate Barebow Male Division in Memphis.

It’s been an impressive start to his collegiate career, and this podium finish shows just how strong the future is for BVU Archery. Competing on one of the biggest indoor stages in the sport, Conner stepped up and represented BVU with focus, grit, and belief.

Not bad for a freshman. 🔥

We can’t wait to see what’s next.

We are excited to welcome Lilly Young from Morris Area High School in Minnesota to the Buena Vista University Archery Team!

Lilly plans to major in Exercise Science as she works toward her dream of becoming an Occupational Therapist, a path that perfectly reflects who she is as a person. Her kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others make her the kind of teammate every program hopes for.

A dedicated 4-H archer, Lilly brings years of experience, strong character, and a lead-by-example mindset to our team. She is also incredibly social and supportive, the teammate who will celebrate your personal best, stand beside you on tough days, and make the range feel like home.

We cannot wait to see the impact she will have on our team culture and in the classroom. Welcome to the BVU family, Lilly!
