All LCL graduate students, TAs, faculty, and alumni are invited to the annual graduate prizes event, along with a graduation ceremony on 22 April 2021, Thursday, 5PM to 7PM. There will also be musical performances, a contest with prizes, and some surprises to look forward to. Check your email for zoom details, and details about the contest and events.
contest: Since we hardly get the occasion to dress up these days, LCL thought of holding a small dress-up contest with prizes for all graduate students of LCL including those who just graduated this year or the last. All you need to do to enter the contest is send LANGSA a quick DM on our facebook or instagram page, or shoot an email to [email protected] with a single word " ". On Thursday during the event, just appear on zoom dressed up in fancy attire (formals, or experimental, or just anything out of ordinary, or maybe just some makeup or a cool hat). We will hold a poll for the two best dressed attendees, and if you win, you receive a gift card of $40 and a fun certificate with the title of to commemorate your fashionable self forever! We encourage you to participate in this fun event if you are a graduate student because, well, it is just for fun.
Musical performance at 6:30 PM by Jorge y Melody Duet: This Jazz duet was formed in 2020 as a result of the lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The project was recipient of the fellowship of the "Resiliencias" Program of the San Luis Potosí Cultural Direction in June 2020. Its repertoire includes traditional jazz music, Latin American songbook themes, boleros, Afro-Antillean music, etc. Melody is a professional singer and professor graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico (she holds a BA in Modern Languages and Singing). She obtained her master’s degree from la Escola Supèrior de Música de Catalunya. Jorge is a double bass player, songwriter and professor. He graduated from the Escuela Estatal de Música and the Jazz program from el Centro de las Artes in San Luis Potosí. He also graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, where he focused in Jazz and Caribbean Music.
