UConn ECE Chemistry students from five high schools spent the day exploring college science at the first of two 2026 UConn Chemistry ECE Lab Days!

Hosted in the UConn Chemistry , students learned from Dr. Michael Kienzler about molecular photoswitches before taking part in a hands-on experiment synthesizing and photoswitching azobenzene. From exploring the Periodic Table to conducting lab work alongside UConn faculty, it was an exciting day of discovery, collaboration, and real-world chemistry.

Thank you to UConn ECE Faculty Coordinator Dr. Fatma Selampinar, Dr. Michael Kienzler, and everyone who helped make this experience possible for our UConn ECE students and teachers!

Happy June! With graduation season underway, we wanted to highlight some students from Masuk High School in Ms. Gample's BIOL1107: Principles of Biology class who will be continuing their education at UConn this fall. Congratulations to all our UConn ECE students on graduating from high school, and we wish you good luck in your future endeavors! 🎓🎉

Each year, students in UConn ECE Italian classes participate in an Italian Multimedia Contest where they are able to submit pieces of written composition, audio composition, or visual composition that represent their true selves to be reviewed by students in Italy for prizes and special recognition. With the winners having been announced in April, we wanted to acknowledge each winner and their project.

Our third-place winner is Isabella Cacnahuaray from Holy Cross High School! She submitted a piece of art titled "Mio Mondo Pieno Di Somiglianza" and a poem titled "La Bellezza Della Cultura". Wonderful job, Isabella, and congratulations on your win!
