UConn NAfME

UConn NAfME This is the official page for the UConn Collegiate NAfME Chapter. We will be posting updates about our activities, meetings, and other things here.

We will also share music education related articles and stories. National Association for Music Education, among the world’s largest arts education organizations, marked its centennial in 2007 as the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, retired, and preservice music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, NA

fME serves millions of students nationwide through activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school. The collegiate chapter of NAfME at the University of Connecticut was formed in the fall of 2011. This page will be updated with UConn NAfME news and information about upcoming events.

We are hosting a meeting next Wednesday! Olivia Dallape, Bryan Carrera, Thomas Knowles, Erin Naclerio, Brian Oliveira will be presenting on their study abroad experiences. They are all masters music education students who went to either Cape Town or London this past fall. They'll be going over the application process, the internships, classes, and the fun experiences they had while abroad. They'll also be able to answer any questions you have about the programs. Hope to see you there.

In addition to this meeting, the CMEA Conference is just around the corner. This is a great opportunity to network and to learn so much about the field of music education. It is hosted March 30-April 1st at the Connecticut Convention Center.
More information can be found on the CMEA website, where you can view the schedule and purchase a ticket. Student tickets are free with an active NAfME membership. If you don't have a current NAFME membership, it will cost $40.

We hope to see you at these events! If you have any remaining questions don't hesitate to reach out.

A big thanks to all who came to our "How to get into Neag" meeting last night! If you were not able to attend, or if you have any residual questions, feel free to DM this account in order to receive resources from last night. In general, also feel free to reach out to any of our board members - we are more than happy to help with your application process.

With this meeting done, we are nearing the end of our semester so we will not be hosting more meetings for the remainder of the fall semester. That being said - we are looking forward to next semester, and the future of our club. In an effort to generate more inclusive and popular meetings, we have created a poll at the link in our bio for you to offer suggestions, and for you to openly communicate to us as a board. We are excited to offer meetings that are community-generated ideas, in order to cater to our audience more.

Have a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break!

Hope to see you there!
