Lambda Chapter was founded on February 24, 1991 at the University of Connecticut by seven forward thinking Latinos determined to make a difference on their campus and in their communities by speaking out as group when the cries of the individual fell on deaf ears. Lambda Chapter is also very important in Lambda Theta Phi's history because it
was the first chapter outside the state of New Jersey a
nd made the fraternity a national one
Lambda Theta Phi is a non-profit social and service fraternity emphasizing Latin unity and the celebration of the Latin culture. It provides the Latino college student the opportunity to be part of a family with a mission. What is this mission? To cultivate a spirit of brotherhood, to value an education, to promote unity among all Latinos, to be proud of and cherish our heritage, to assert roles of leadership, to develop character, to practice chivalry, and to serve mankind. In short, to raise the social and cultural conscience of the Latin male college student. Lambda Theta Phi, has and will forever be a community service/ social fraternity, what does that mean? it means we are dedicated to giving back to our community and illustrating to all communities that by working to together we can achieve our goals - "En la unión está la fuerza,” "In unity there is strength."
