Ascent Academies of Utah is a tuition-free public charter school network serving more than 3,200 students in grades K–9 across five campuses. Guided by the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), they emphasize individualized learning by identifying each student's unique Learning Profile and tailoring educational experiences to their strengths, interests, and learning preferences. Through weekly student-led Enrichment Clusters, students develop a passion for learning while building confidence, strengthening connections with their communities, and enhancing critical thinking skills.

We wrapped up the Wallace Research Symposium on Talent Development with an engaging closing keynote, “Algorithms, Education, and Inequality,” from Cathy O'Neil, author of the best-selling book Weapons of Math Destruction.

Her keynote challenged attendees to think critically about the ways algorithms and artificial intelligence can shape opportunity, access, and equity in education.

Throughout the symposium, our team was proud to share their work through presentations, posters, and conversations with colleagues across the field. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Wallace Symposium such a meaningful gathering of researchers and educators.
