Southeast Extension Smith Experiment Station A continuation of the work begun at the Northeast Extension, the Southeast Extension was temporarily located in Portsmouth, Virginia.

It will be permanently housed in a newly constructed facility on the banks of the Nansemond River in Suffolk, Virginia. The original Smith Experiment Station began in 1945 in Ithaca, New York. The Northeast Extension of the Smith Experiment Station was set up in Maine 1993. Two highly adaptive and accomplished researchers left there to continue their studies at the University of New Hampshire. The

remaining Station members closed the Northeast Extension and have moved south. After a two year sabbatical in Portsmouth, Virginia. Jim and Donna are opening the Southeast Extension of the Smith Experiment Station in Suffolk, Virginia.
