Sandra González is going to be running for board of trustee and is interested in learning more about students attitudes toward the campus.

Please take this survey so she can find out more about students at WCC:
bit.ly/StudentAttitudesWCC

Sandra is an educator, a future doctora, and immigration and education advocate. In the past five years, she has worked as a Heritage Spanish High School Teacher in the Fox Valley area, where she saw the need to assist with students affected by immigration and educational access issues that have impacted their academic experience and therefore, hold educational stakeholders accountable. She is the oldest daughter of Salvadoran migrants, having fled the country’s civil war in 1992 while her mother was three months pregnant with Sandra. She is the first in her family to pursue a doctoral program and the first in her family to graduate from university in the U.S. Currently, Sandra is a Ph.D. student at Illinois State University, studying educational administration & foundations in order to pass on knowledge to her community and ultimately work with students as they navigate opportunities for advanced degrees.

Hello everyone! We hope this message finds you well!

MECHA would like to forward a message from our advisor Jessica Moreno (Assistant Dean of Academic Support) :

"As you may know, September 15 through October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month! At Waubonsee a proud Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), Latinos make up 31.1% of the student body, so there are plenty of reasons and ways to celebrate. We are calling our month, Latinx Heritage Month- Building Comunidad. The name intends to capture the many cultures and histories that form this community, all who bring their own rich identity and heritage. We encourage you to Celebrate with us all month long by attending and participating in any or all events. These are free and open to the public (unless otherwise specified). Donations during this month will be encouraged to support our DACA and undocumented Scholarship, so please invite everyone (even if they are not students at WCC)! Everyone is welcome!
