The CPC Film Series recently welcomed alumni filmmakers Dylan Bowman and Nik Hogan back to campus for a special showcase of their work at the Capital Blue Cross Theatre.

The evening featured two films from Bowman, including his award-selected short Plaster Heart, along with Hogan’s Nik & Trevor: The First Day — the first animated film ever screened as part of the CPC Film Series.

From live-action filmmaking to animation, these talented alumni demonstrated the power of storytelling and showed our students what’s possible when creativity, passion and persistence come together.

Congratulations to Central Penn College student and Knightly News reporter Alex Foley on having TWO articles published by TheBurg Magazine this spring!

Having work published by a professional media outlet while still in college is a major accomplishment and demonstrates the hands-on, career-focused education our students receive. Three members of the Central Penn College Knights baseball team recently spent part of their offseason volunteering with the Camp Hill Challenger Baseball Senior League, helping athletes with special needs enjoy an afternoon of baseball, friendship, and fun.

Roniel Morel, Tyler Haynes, and Kyle Brent assisted with warmups, played catch, coached teams, and supported players throughout the day. What began as a day on the field became an opportunity to build meaningful connections and create lasting memories.

Now in its fifth year, the partnership between Central Penn Baseball and the Camp Hill Challenger Baseball Senior League continues to show the power of sports to bring people together, foster inclusion, and strengthen our community.

After years of working in the dental field, Mary is continuing to invest in her future through Central Penn College's Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) program.

From a young age, Mary knew dentistry was the right career path for her. She loves the hands-on nature of the profession, the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, and the rewarding feeling of helping people become more comfortable and confident with their smiles.

Even after many years of chairside experience, Mary's passion for learning remains as strong as ever.

Her advice for anyone considering becoming an EFDA?

"Be open to learning and take advantage of as much hands-on experience as possible. Learn from both your instructors and classmates because everyone brings different techniques and experiences to the table. Most importantly, it's never too late to continue learning and advancing your career."

Mary believes earning her EFDA certification will allow her to play an even greater role in patient care and restorative procedures while helping her dental office operate more efficiently. Combined with her years of experience, her advanced training will make her an even stronger member of the dental team.

At Central Penn College, being a Knight means making an impact both on and off the field.

As the spring term comes to a close, our student-athletes have been busy giving back through a series of youth camps and community events across Central Pennsylvania.

⚽ Our Soccer Mini Camp welcomed young athletes for a fun and developmental experience led by our men's and women's soccer coaches and student-athletes.

🏀 More than 40 campers joined us for our Youth Basketball Camp, where participants learned new skills, connected with our teams, and wrapped up the day with a pool party on campus for a true Central Penn student-athlete experience.

⚾ Most recently, our baseball program partnered with the Harrisburg Senators for their Play Ball Weekend, helping more than 250 youth players develop their game through clinics and activities led by our coaches and student-athletes.

These events do more than teach sports skills. They give our student-athletes the opportunity to serve as mentors, role models, and leaders while strengthening connections throughout our community.

We're proud of the positive impact our Knights continue to make and grateful for every opportunity to inspire the next generation of student-athletes.

Helping people regain independence is at the heart of Central Penn College's Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.

Led by Program Director Dr. Kimberly Tanish, students learn to take a holistic approach to patient care that focuses on the whole person.

"It's very holistic," Tanish said. "You're not just looking at the physical body. You're looking at the entire person and helping them be independent."

Through hands-on labs, community outreach, and real-world experiences, students gain valuable skills before entering the workforce. Recent opportunities have included volunteering at the Special Olympics, participating in the Tim Tebow Foundation's Night to Shine event, and working with local nursing facilities throughout the region.

"We're always trying to get students out into the community," Tanish said. "Whether it's bringing in guest speakers or taking them to different environments, we want them to see what OT really is."

For OTA student Logan Follmer, the profession offers a unique opportunity to make a difference.

"I've always liked helping people, but OT helps them in a different way than most occupations," Follmer said.

With small class sizes, supportive faculty, and experiential learning at its core, Central Penn's OTA program is preparing students for meaningful careers helping others live more independent, fulfilling lives.

The Central Penn College Knights are excited to announce that Jacob Franklin has committed to continue his academic and athletic career with our men's basketball program!

A transfer from Harrisburg Area Community College, Jacob joins the Knights from New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and will begin classes at Central Penn College in Summer 2026. He plans to pursue a degree in Health Science while competing as a forward for the Knights.

Jacob brings experience, determination, and versatility to the court, and we're excited to see the impact he'll make both in the classroom and on game day.

Linda is currently pursuing her Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certificate at Central Penn College, and her passion for patient care is helping her take the next step in her dental career.

For Linda, becoming an EFDA is about more than advancing her skills. It's about building stronger relationships with patients, providing better education on oral health, and making a lasting impact on the people she serves.

When asked what inspired her to continue her education, Linda shared that she loves helping patients understand proper oral care and wants to be as knowledgeable as possible so she can provide the highest level of care.

Her advice for future EFDAs? Learn from those around you and find a balance that works for your life.

"As someone with a first grader and a full-time job, I know what it's like to be busy. Establishing a good schedule early on can set you up for success throughout the term."
