At Theta Chi our chapter values excellence across all areas.

This past weekend, our intramural hockey team
“Penalty Box” took home their third consecutive championship to complete their 3 peat.

Shortly after, Rory Douglas and Luke Grief came out on top of our annual Red Carnation Tournament, with a final score of -2.

We finished off the year hosting some philanthropy event, getting involved in fundraisers, and pairing up with other organizations around campus.

How does THETA CHI celebrate their Founders' Day?

Theta Chi fraternity was founded on April 10, 1856 at Norwich University in Norwich, Vermont, by two military cadets, Frederick Norton Freeman and Arthur Chase. This year, the brothers of the Alpha Chi chapter celebrated founders’ day by inviting alumni to join them at 711 Comstock Avenue. Alumnus from multiple generations joined current brothers for a terrific meal catered by Chipotle and discussed memories from their time at Syracuse, as well as their current chapter activities. For more than 150 years, they have been defined by their friendships and their willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. The Greek Motto of Theta Chi is translated as “An Assisting Hand”, and the fraternity’s maxim is “Alma Mater First, and Theta Chi for Alma Mater”, referring to one of the founding ideals of the fraternity: loyalty to one’s college or university over the course of their lifetime. They preach the values of truth, temperance, and tolerance, and recite them in their creed each week at chapter meetings.

Being Theta Chi means a lot to the brothers. This is what they had to say:

Austin Tousaw, senior: “Being in Theta Chi means having 60 best friends you can hang out with wherever, whenever.”

Brendan Ingargiola, senior: “Being a brother of Theta Chi means a lot more than just being able to party and have fun. It is knowing that there is a group of guys that support you in each endeavor that you undertake. Knowing that no matter what choices you make in life, your brothers will extend a helping hand to make sure you’re never alone.

Evan Taub, sophomore: “Being a brother of Theta Chi means being a gentlemen to everyone I meet and upolding the values of truth, temperance, and tolerance that the house was founded upon”
