This summer many of our sisters traveled far and wide to broaden their horizons and have new experiences. Junior, Kaitleigh Witten recently returned from Hawaii. “My trip to Hawaii brought out the adventurous side in me. I swam with sharks and sea turtles and I got to experience so many new, exciting, and different places. I would say my favorite part about being in Hawaii was being constantly surrounded by such beautiful views.”

Being a is central to my Jewish identity. I had the unique experience of attending the pride parade in Jerusalem. Celebrating love in a city that is special to so many religions was incredibly impactful. It was fantastic to witness and be a part of the progress we’ve made.” - Rebecca Sereboff, MC ‘19

“Greek life is stereotypically straight, so it’s so funny to me that I met my current girlfriend through sorority recruitment. GPhi has surrounded me with unconditionally supportive people. Thanks to them, I had the confidence to pursue Gaby. After we started dating, everyone treated me the same, which made me feel the most loved and supported. You can be a by educating yourself and respecting everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, not just our sisters.” - Skye Prentice, MC ‘16

“For a , Pride isn’t all rainbows and parades; it’s a remembrance of the bricks that were thrown and the lives that have been risked to bring us to our current state of freedom. Pride is a way to take a moment to look back, reflect on the now, and continue to push forward. I am beyond happy to have the supportive bonds with Gamma Phi women who continually celebrate who I am.” - Abigail Tick, MC ‘19

“No one should feel like talking about or explaining their identity might have a negative impact on their recruitment experience and we should make that known before the recruitment process begins. We can be better by working to change people’s idea of a ‘sorority girl.’ Even if you don’t consider yourself a member of the LGBTQ community, it’s important to remember that being an ally builds awareness and drives social change. And to my LGBTQ sisters, Happy Pride!” - Liz Gonzalez, MC ‘17

”I love Gamma Phi, but the new member process was hard for me. I felt like I was constantly coming out during recruitment, formals, and even the big/little process. For me, it’s important to be ‘out’ to feel like my sisters accept me for who I really am. I want to be a better to other members and PNMs so no one has to feel like I did.” - Julia Schwenderman, MC ‘19

In difficult times it is important to remember that we are more than just members of our own organizations but rather members of one community. The sisters of Alpha Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta send our unconditional love and support to the sisters of Sigma Delta Tau during this extremely sensitive time.

This week on , we hear from Madeline Lavery, PC '17, about her internship experience:

"Hey everyone! My name Madeline Lavery and I spent this past summer interning at Czarnowski, which is an exhibit marketing company. I was at the Pittsburgh office, but they have offices all across the US and two over seas. They mainly work in the niche industry of vehicle marketing working with brands like BMW, Mercedes, Nissan, Hyundai, Porsche, and countless others. This summer they had me come in to learn hands on by note taking at meetings, filing receipts, and shadowing a member of each brands team. It was such an amazing experience to learn about a new industry I never knew existed!"
