On this day in 1901 at Richmond College, 12 men set out to create a brotherhood based on three principles: Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. These principles are achieved throughout each chapter to this very day. November 1st is Sigma Phi Epsilon's Founders Day. In a span of 115 years, Sigma Phi Epsilon has become one of the largest fraternities in the country.

The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon New York Alpha at Syracuse University commemorate the effort put forth by our founding fathers: Carter Ashton Jenkens, Benjamin Donald Gaw, William Hugh Carter, William Andrew Wallace, Thomas Temple Wright, William Lazell Phillips, Lucian Baum Cox, Richard Spurgeon Owens, Edgar Lee Allen, Robert Alfred McFarland, Franklin Webb Kerfoot, and Thomas Vaden McCaul.
